![]() ![]() I would think you'd prefer to make hands-off download restores that utilize your underutilized outbound bandwidth vs. Download bandwidth is 100% free to Backblaze, we have INFINITE download bandwidth available to us for free, that isn't an issue. So yes, to your point, it isn't about cost of bandwidth. I don't know what the current measure is, but we used to get DEEP discounts by guaranteeing to our datacenters/network providers that we would use 10x as much upload bandwidth as download bandwidth. Your bandwidth has got to be like 96% inbound why does restoring data suck so bad? edit: file selection fixed by removing a lot of desktop icons, seems to be windows 10 issue Since I don't have much space in my main drive I have to download to main, then I have to move it to secondary hard drive, since moving is slow I have to wait before downloading second big file. So yeah if right now I have ~40 restore files, that means I have to log in 40 times and I have to enter 40 verification codes and hope to not trigger rate limitter.Īlso I'm forced to download the restore files to C:\Users\username* for no good reason. ![]() They should either allow downloading multiple files at once or allow downloading again after first download without needing to log in again You could say this is for "security reasons", but if I'm downloading second file few minutes after first file then I'm probably the same person. ![]() Well I have around 40 pending zip files, so first download went fine, but since i was forced to close the app after first download I had to open it again and when I tried to log in since I use 2 steps authentication I have to wait for the code, but I never received the code, i clicked "resend code" but I get an error: " no verification code provided", so I'm asking them to resend the code but I need the code to have the code resent? So I restarted the app to try again and this time when trying to log in I get "unkown error occured: 1" I think this is some kind of login rate limit, since I logged in again successfully after few minutes. The problem is that you can't just start downloading the other file, you have to close the app, open it again and start downloading again So the downloader itself: You have to log in the client, you select the file to download and you click download seems fine so far. zip restore files directly is extremely slow, I get capped at 1.7MB/s so I'm pretty much forced to use the downloader, while using it with 30 threads I max out at around 280mbps (~35MB/s) If they kept the same window open you could just go down the disk tree like a list, right now I have text file open to keep note of what I restored.ĭownloading. Since I keep having to go back to restore window its easy to restore files that already being restored since you have no way of knowing of what you restoring already. So when I select few folders and click "restore" it shows me "files being restored" window, so I have to click back to restore window, then i have to wait for files to load again and from time to time I have to enter my encryption key, then again i have to go though my files tree to select next folders to restore. So I started backup process on time.įirst annoying thing with backblaze restore panel itself is that you cant restore all files / lots of files at once, its limited on file count or file size, so I'm forced to restore in parts. So after few months of using backblaze my seagate 2TB hard drive failed, so now I'm starting to restore all my data.
